August 29th - location TBD
With your sponsorship you would get face-time with physicians within the area and also have your logo on our website, as well as featured at the event.
A little bit about our association and purpose of the quarterly social gatherings:
The Magnolia Graduate Medical Education Alumni Association (MGMEAA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that sponsors our students, residents, and fellows for medical conference expenses, Leadership Alcorn program scholarship though the alliance, financial hardship, and our annual GME graduation and retreat at the Marriott in Muscle Shoals, AL. We also plan to help sponsor continuing medical education events for our alumni in the near future. We have only been active for 3 years but have already made a huge impact and impression on our future physicians.
This event will be for students, residents, fellows, and alumni as well as GME staff. Our goal for the MGMEAA Quarterly Socials is to provide these trainees with the opportunity to network not only with each other, but to the those in the community in which they give their business. These events will also serve as opportunities to recruit medical students to the MRHC Internal Medicine Residency and/or Fellowship, as well as retain our residents and fellows upon graduation. We would greatly appreciate your sponsorship of one of these events. Our GME department has a tremendous impact on the health of our community and brings millions of dollars in economic impact each year. We need the help of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits in the area to help grow and develop these programs to sustain their success for years to come.
Our department includes nearly 73 individuals. We currently have 11 4th year and 18 3rd year medical students who come for at least 1-2 years, some of which stay for IM residency. and During their tenure at MRHC, they will rent, bank, eat, shop, and volunteer at free clinics in addition to their third and fourth year training duties at the hospital and surrounding clinics. We currently have 19 resident physicians and will increase to 20 next year. We have graduated 50 IM residents. They are here for a total of 3 years and over half of our physicians stay within the community! We are now able to provide our community with endocrinology and rheumatology, services a majority of communities our size are unable to recruit, with our alumni Dr. Blavo and Dr. Lindsey. We currently have 6 cardiology fellows with 3 obligated to return once their fellowship is complete.
It takes a village to support Graduate Medical Education and we are grateful for that which we have received thus far. We hope to continue providing MRHC alumni, residents, students, and fellows with opportunities that will advance their careers and personal growth for many years to come.
